Steven Logan Bennett was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Gerald R. Ford, Jr. on August 8, 1974. The Medal of Honor is the nations highest award for valor. Additionally, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Force Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Cheney Award. The links at the bottom of this page document his remarkable heroism. He is one of only 13 Medal of Honor Air Force Recipients of the entire Vietnam War Captain Bennett is honored by the Forward Air Controllers Memorial located in Memorial Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado. This memorial was dedicated on October 3, 2008. A monument to U. S. A. F. Captain Steven Logan Bennett is located at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette. It was placed there by the Acadiana Chapter 82nd Airborne Division Association. The Louisiana Military Hall of Fame & Museum in Abbeville on November 15, 2009 inducted the four Louisiana Medal of Honor recipients, including Captain Steven Logan Bennett, at its inaugural celebration.
